Space Configuration Services

This umbrella of services covers projects where walls are being created, moved, or removed, including remodels, renovations, and new construction projects. Our design process guides a project from an initial idea through 3D computer modeling to a set of plans for construction.

The process described below is also included in all of our flat-fee space configuration proposals.

STEP 1: MEASUREMENT

We will visit your space to measure relevant areas and develop a “vanilla box” 3D model of the existing space. You do not need to be present for this visit, as we will be in a focused state communicating technical information. We will also take photos and/or videos for archival and reference purposes.

STEP 2: CONCEPT

space meeting
We will meet with you to discuss your future space as we review photos of finished spaces and consider spatial possibilities. We will review the 3D model of the existing space together after reviewing photos.

concept design
We will begin to manipulate the 3D model addressing overall layout and flow between spaces with a basic level of visual detail. The concept design will focus on walls/openings, levels/stairways, and relevant rooflines.

concept review meeting
We will meet with you to walk through the computer model and consider the initial concept from multiple spatial viewpoints. Afterwards, we will provide a fly-through animation and before-and-after renderings.

concept modifications and approval
Once you reflect on the concept and provide feedback, we will revise the design accordingly. We will meet and modify the design as many times as necessary to your contentment and approval.

STEP 3: ELEMENTS

elements design
Once we receive concept design approval, we will continue to manipulate the 3D model addressing elements within each individual space with an increased level of visual detail. The elements design will focus on cabinetry/built-ins, electrical/plumbing layout, window/door functionality, and architectural details.

elements review meeting
We will meet with you to walk through the computer model together again, this time addressing elements within each space. After this meeting, we will provide an updated animation and updated renderings to you.

elements modifications and approval
Once you reflect on these elements and provide feedback, we will revise the design accordingly. We will meet and modify the design as many times as necessary to your contentment and approval.

STEP 4: PLANS CONVERSION

Once we receive elements design approval, we will translate the 3D model to a 2D plan set, including a dimensioned floor plan, an electrical plan, and any needed detail drawings with design notes.

After beginning work on the flat-fee process detailed above, we offer additional services as requested on an hourly basis.
